Wayne Rooney will face his wife Coleen for the first time today since claims that he cheated on her with a prostitute.

Mrs Rooney has agreed to meet for talks after her husband flies back from Switzerland, where he played in last night’s European Championship qualifying match, scoring England’s first goal.

Friends said the meeting was make or break for their marriage.

The 24-year-old is said to have made no decision on the couple’s future but feels she owes it to their marriage and their 10-month-old son Kai to hear her husband’s version of events.

In particular, she will want to know the extent of his liaisons with Jennifer Thompson – a 21-year-old former public schoolgirl who became a £1,200-a-night hooker known as Juicy Jeni.

Asource revealed: ‘Coleen has agreed to meet Wayne. She’s devastated but is prepared to hear him out.’

Mrs Rooney was seen in public yesterday for the first time since the revelations.

Although dressed smartly in a cream blazer and still sporting glitzy diamond earrings, onlookers said her face was etched with exhaustion.

She was stony faced as she was driven from the Merseyside home of her parents Tony and Colette McLoughlin – bought for them by her husband – and was careful to make it impossible to tell if she was wearing her wedding ring.

Friends claimed her marriage to Rooney, 24, was ‘hanging by a thread’ and there are increasing suggestions that she could go it alone and demand a divorce – confident in the knowledge that her ‘brand’ is sufficiently established to safeguard her earning power.

Mrs Rooney had been in hiding with Kai for three days after Miss Thompson claimed the footballer had paid to sleep with her at a five-star hotel while his wife was pregnant.

She timed her re-appearance well, coming just hours before her husband took to the pitch for the England match.

For his part, Rooney has apparently told friends he will make no attempt to rescue his marriage if his wife decides to leave him.

As in any divorce, experts claim that she would be eligible for a large slice of Rooney’s £27million fortune – and any future income from football and sponsorship deals.

And Mrs Rooney would be able to rely on her own £8million fortune, built up through sponsorship deals with household brands.

Alongside this, the Daily Mail has learned that she is being pursued by TV channels after spearheading her own ITV2 show, Real Women.

A close friend of the couple said last night: ‘Wayne and Coleen have never been a Posh and Becks – the point is they’ve never been marketed together as a couple or a brand.

‘His image is a macho one derived from his background, as a Liverpool lad who learned to play on the streets who went on to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Hers is based on girl-next-door appeal, her love of fashion and her bubbly personality.

Of course, were she not married to Wayne, her career might have been less stellar.

But having been introduced to her, all her brands – Littlewoods, Argos, ITV, LG Phones – love her.

‘Coleen has achieved success and popularity in her own right. What are the chances of them having a future together? I’d say 50-50. They are hanging by a thread.’

The Rooneys, both Roman Catholics from close-knit families, met when they were just 12 and started dating after he helped to fix her bicycle chain.

Their first dates, at the local chip shop or the cinema, were a far cry from their current luxurious lifestyle.

Mrs Rooney and her family will now be bracing themselves for further revelations after claims that another woman is set to go public with further sordid allegations involving the Manchester United star and Miss Thompson.

Mr McLoughlin is said to be so furious that he has barred his son-in-law from their home, saying: ‘He is never, ever setting foot in this house again.’

Miss Thompson said she had slept with Rooney at the five-star Lowry Hotel in Salford.

After one encounter, she claimed, the footballer summoned a member of the hotel staff demanding cigarettes, handing over £200 in exchange for a packet of Marlboro.

However, as the Mail revealed yesterday,Rooney has told friends he is ‘not prepared to take s*** off the wife and her family, not least because they’re all living a very nice life off the back of his talent’.
