Anthea Turner and her husband resort to selling Christmas trees (but it's nothing to do with new money woes... just for charity)

New job?: Anthea Turner and Grant Bovey spend the day selling Christmas trees outside The White Horse pub in Hascombe, Surrey

She may have had her share of financial worries recently, but these photos are not evidence of Anthea Turner trying out a new career path.

The TV presenter, 49, and her husband Grant Bovey got into the festive sprit by selling Christmas trees outside their local pub in Hascombe, Surrey.

So far the couple have raised £10,000 for local children's charity Chase, which supports children who aren't expected to live beyond their 19th birthday.

The yearly tradition was initiated by radio presenter Chris Evans who passed it onto Anthea when he sold her his £6million house earlier this year.

Anthea and her husband were rocked last year by the collapse of his company Imagine Homes.

The UK's biggest buy-to-let company went bust with debts of over £50million and last July they were forced to sell their £10million family home, a six-bedroom Surrey mansion set in 100 acres with swimming pool, tennis court and polo field.

So, on first looks these pictures could easily have shown the couple trying to make ends meet over the Christmas period.

In a recent interview with The Daily Mail Anthea admitted the financial worries put a strain on her marriage to Grant.

She said: 'It's a massive stress and it put a strain on our relationship. Grant wasn't sleeping and was coming home each day more and more stressed. I have, with Grant, responsibilities for his three children, for family and friends. If we went down, we were going to take a lot of people with us. So, yes, it was tough.'

Festive spirit: After losing his £100million company it could be mistaken that Grant Bovey and wife Anthea have taken to selling Christmas trees to make money

But the couple have bounced back, with Anthea working as often as she can, often swallowing her pride to do jobs that she would have turned her nose up at in years gone by.

She admitted: : 'I'm not proud. It's a case of roll up your sleeves and work...
'I hope I will carry on working. Whether it's panto, selling gammon or an advert for Flash, I don't mind. I can turn my hand to anything.'
