Alicia Keys Blocked by Susan Boyle From No. 1 Spot on Hot 200

Though missing the No. 1 spot on Billboard Hot 200, Alicia Keys' 'The Element of Freedom' manages to secure the top position on R 'n' B Albums chart.

Alicia Keys' "The Element of Freedom" has to sit at the runner-up position as Susan Boyle's "I Dreamed a Dream" is standing in its way to the top spot. Alicia's album sold 417,000 copies, while Susan's pulls in 661,000 units in its fourth week on sale.

This is the first time Alicia misses the hot spot on the U.S. albums chart as she succeeded to be crowned the Hot 200 champ with her three previous albums. Though so, her album, which manages to steal the first position on R&B Albums chart this week, is estimated to have a chance of reaching No. 1 in the coming weeks when the Susan hysteria dies down.

As for Susan, this is her fourth week reign. "I Dreamed a Dream" has garnered a total of 2,465,000 copies, becoming the second-best selling album of 2009 behind Taylor Swift's "Fearless" which has scanned more than 2,933,000 to date. Moreover, a projection from Nielsen SoundScan suggests her debut album is likely to secure the No. 1 spot next week despite the arrival of Mary J. Blige's "Stronger with Each Tear", "We Are Young Money" compilation and Eminem's "Relapse: Refill".

In addition to Alicia Keys' "Element of Freedom", another new entry on the chart this week is "Sex Therapy: The Session" from Robin Thicke. It enters at No. 9 with 123,000, becoming his third Top 10 albums. Other than that, there is not much change in this week's Hot 200 list as several spots still belong to Taylor Swift's "Fearless", Carrie Underwood's "Play On" and Lady GaGa's "The Fame" which stay firm at their last week's positions.
