Peter Andre breaks down on live TV as he discusses the future of his children after Katie Price's Las Vegas wedding

By Natalie Trombetta

Tears: Peter Andre broke down during a live interview on Sky News today

Peter Andre broke down in tears during a live interview today when quizzed about Katie Price's new husband Alex Reid.

The Australian singer was overcome with emotion when probed by Kay Burley about the role the cage-fighter would play in his children's lives.

He asked to cut the segment short as he struggled to hold back tears, declaring: 'Nobody is going to take my kids away from me.'

Andre, 36, was ostensibly on the programme to promote his new Valentine's Day album, Unconditional Love Songs.

But it of course coincided with news his ex-wife had remarried in a Las Vegas ceremony overnight.

Tough questions: Kay Burley asked Andre how he would feel if Alex Reid wanted to adopt his children Junior and Princess

Andre did his utmost to deflect questions about the wedding, repeatedly stating that he was only concerned about his children.

When pushed about Reid, he said: 'I don't know the man, I've never met him.
'I couldn't care less, I'm so sorry, I'm not being bitter.'

He said Junior, 4, and Princess, 2, were not yet aware Price and Reid had wed, adding: 'I guess it's something I'm going to have to explain to them.'

But the interview took a turn when Burley played a clip from a previous interview with Dwight Yorke, the father of Price's disabled son, Harvey, 7.

Awkward viewing: Andre asked to cut the interview short after he became overwhelmed with emotion

In the clip, which Andre had not seen before, Dwight described Andre's request to adopt Harvey as 'disrespectful'.

An incensed Andre responded: 'I asked to adopt him because I love him, not to be disrespectful. That angers me a little bit.'

Burley then asked how he would feel if Celebrity Big Brother winner Reid wanted to adopt his children.

A clearly distressed Andre replied: 'No one is going to take my kids away from me. And I will fight to the death for that.'

Feeling down? Don't log on, it could make things worse

Dependent? Researchers found that the longer people spent on websites, the more unhappy they were

Surfing the internet can expose a 'dark side' of the soul, with online addicts more likely to be depressed, claim psychologists.

They found the longer people spent on websites, the more unhappy they were.

Those worst affected are both depressed and addicted, possibly because they are substituting the net for normal social activities.

Research leader Dr Catriona Morrison, from the University of Leeds, said: 'The internet plays a huge part in modern life, but its benefits are accompanied by a darker side.'

Researchers questioned 1,319 people aged from 16 to 51 to assess levels of internet dependency and depression.

In general, the longer people spent online the more depressed they tended to be, reported the journal Psychopathology.

Dr Morrison said: 'There was a high correspondence between the amount of time spent on the internet and levels of depression.

'If you look at how dependent people feel they are on the internet, that is likely to correspond with how happy or sad they feel.'

The research team identified 18 hard-core internet users who spent many hours online each day and were classed as 'internet addicted'.

Their average depression score was more than five times higher than that of non-addicted users, and they were more likely to be moderately or severely depressed.

The addicts spent more time browsing pornography sites, gaming sites and online communities. They also tended to be young, having an average age of 21.

Dr Morrison added: 'Our research indicates that excessive internet use is associated with depression, but what we don't know is which comes first - are depressed people drawn to the internet or does the internet cause depression?'

Christina Aguilera ditches the heavy make-up for her fresh-faced film debut

Who's that girl? Christina Aguilera looked unrecognisable with her golden blonde wig and natural make-up

Christina Aguilera is rarely seen without her signature red lipstick and heavy eye make-up, calling it her 'armour'.

So it must be quite a challenge for the singer to part from her beloved war paint as she goes for the natural look in her upcoming film debut.

Spotted on the set of Burlesque in Los Angeles yesterday, Aguilera, 29, looked unrecognisable with her golden blonde wig and natural make-up.

Made up: Aguilera with bright red lipstick and smoky eyes on New Year's Eve in Las Vegas

The film sees Aguilera play a small-town girl called Ali who flees home for a new life in Los Angeles.

After landing a job as a cocktail waitress in a burlesque club, she soon aspires to become one of the sexy dancers on stage.

Aguilera has always spoken openly about her love of cosmetics, believing its her responsibility as an entertainer to look immaculate at all times.

She said: 'The red lips are - I don't want to call them "armour," but they're the clothes of my character, and I'm in the business of entertainment.

'I don't see make-up as a defence. I see it as a creative outlet.

'Who's to say a little mascara doesn't make you feel more confident when you pop it on and look in the mirror?

'It helps, especially in my position, where I have people waiting down the street to take pictures of me so they can evaluate and criticise every little flaw on my face. I suppose that's where the armour would come into the picture.'

Small town girl: Aguilera transformed from glam pop star to aspiring burlesque dancer in the new film

Despite her love for red lipstick, Aguilera recently admitted she was forced to change from her favourite brand to find a more kiss-proof laquer.

She said: 'I love having red lips. There's just something fun and vibrant about it. I love that extra little "pop" to any look no matter how simple or strong the rest of the face is.

'But I have been using this kiss-proof red lipstick recently so I can kiss (my son) Max without getting kiss marks all over him.'

As well as losing the heavy make-up for the role, Aguilera has also been shedding the pounds.

The star has been looking noticeably less curvier in recent months due to her daily dance routine.

Slimmed down: Aguilera has shifted the pounds with a combination of dance and weight lifting
She is spending up to 14 hours a day rehearsing for the film, which is due for release later this year.

Her trainer Tee Sorge says Aguilera has been hitting the gym in addition to practising in the dance studio.

Sorge said Aguilera has been lifting weights and doing between 300 to 500 sit-ups a gym session.

Sorge told InTouch magazine: 'She’s tremendously happy and feels really strong. We want to make sure she doesn’t lose her muscle mass or too much weight.

Caffeine fix: Aguilera sips a cup of coffee in-between scenes

'We work the entire upper body by doing everything from bicep curls to tricep dips. Christina does three sets of each exercise and uses weights ranging from five to 15 pounds.'

Aguilera has also banished all whites from her diet, including flour, rice and sugar, but is allowed one day off a week to eat what she likes.

Sorge added: 'She's always been good. But now she’s sticking to whole grains and lean proteins. Her goal now is just to be fit.'

American Gigolo beauty Lauren Hutton shows she's still in fine supermodel form at 66

By Chris Johnson

Still got it: Lauren Hutton, 66, took part in a photoshoot today in St Barts for H&M and looked in fantastic shape

She may be well on the way to 70.

But American Gigolo actress Lauren Hutton proves she still has what it takes to be a model.

The 66-year-old star, best known for her role alongside Richard Gere in the 1980 thriller, looked in fantastic shape as she hit the beach in the Caribbean.

Clad in a shirted dress, Lauren looked confident taking strides across the sand in St Barts where she was doing a fashion shoot for H&M.

With her long legs on show, the Hollywood star proved she still has a figure that would make a woman 30 years her junior green with envy.

Renowned French fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier was on location behind the lens taking the shots.

However, not even Lauren could resist capturing the stunning beach views and at one point she was seen snapping away with her own camera.

Looking good: The actress and model, best known for her role in American Gigolo, showed off her legs in a short shirted dress

Lauren, who played a sexually frustrated wife seduced by Gere in American Gigolo, is now best known for her modelling work.

With her famous gap-toothed smile, she is one of the first supermodels who has appeared on countless magazine covers.

In 1968 she was the cover star of both French and Italian Vogue, and then again for the Italian edition in 1993.

At the age of 61, she posed nude for American publication Big magazine, saying: 'I want them (women) not to be ashamed of who they are when they're in bed.'

Snap happy: She was being photographed by renowned French fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier, but she also took some shots herself

Earlier this month she was announced as a guest judge on U.S. show Project Runway. She appeared in the second week of the reality design competition.

'We were so lucky to have Lauren Hutton as a guest judge,' executive producer Jane Cha said at the time.

'She was knowledgeable, feisty and is obviously an icon of the modelling and fashion industry in general.'

Lauren followed in the high heels of previous celebrity guest judges including Nicole Richie, Christina Aguilera, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel Bilson and Eva Longoria Parker

Help for a hero: Gordon Brown to the rescue as wounded serviceman falls on steps of Downing Street

By Claire Ellicott

Struggle: Prime Minister Gordon Brown helps lift Derek Derenalagi who was at Number Ten to promote a St George's Day rugby match to raise cash

Gordon Brown was quick to lend a helping hand to a disabled soldier who fell on the steps of Downing Street yesterday.

Derek Derenalagi, who lost his legs in Afghanistan, took a tumble as he left Number 10 following a photocall to promote a charity event.

He fell heavily but was helped up by the Prime Minister and former England rugby captain Lawrence Dallaglio.

Assistance: The Prime Minister rushes to help the Fijian former rugby player - who lost his legs in an Afghan explosion - after he falls outside Number Ten
The 33-year-old private with the 2nd Battalion, Mercian Regiment, was wounded when an improvised explosive device blew up his Land Rover in Helmand Province in 2007.

The Fijian, who joined the Army in 2000, has made such a good recovery with prosthetic legs that he has returned to playing rugby, using a pair of hitech 'blades' to run.

He has joined the Ministry of Defence’s Battle Back scheme and hopes to compete at the London 2012 Paralympics.

He was at Downing Street to promote a rugby match that will raise money for the Help for Heroes charity.

The organisers hope to generate a six-figure sum through a levy of at least £1 on tickets for London Wasps against Bath at Twickenham on April 24.

Private Derenalagi, from Bushey, Hertfordshire, is part of the Ministry of Defence's Battle Back scheme and hopes to compete at the London 2012 Paralympics.

A Downing Street spokesman declined to comment on the incident involving the soldier.

Big freeze delays traditional snowdrop display as February starts with more snow and temperatures of -7c

This image shows that winter can be beautiful too as student Lucy Moir,19, lies amongst snowdrops at Painswick Rococo Gardens in Gloucestershire
Usually the snowdrops begin to surface from the first week of January but the exceptionally biting weather made them reluctant to pop up.

One of Britain's largest collections of snowdrops has finally burst into life after the cold snap caused a record delay in the blooms' arrival.

Hundreds of thousands of white flowers at Painswick Rococo Gardens in Gloucestershire have shown their heads above the soil a fortnight late.

The snowdrops cover acres of ground among the fantastical follies and trees near Stroud, but even now only half are out.

Director Paul Moir said: 'It is much later this year. I can't remember them starting to come out as late as this.

'It is the cold weather. December was so cold, as was much of January, that they have been snuggling in the soil.

'The early ones have come out but the progress is very very slow because it has remained cold. I would normally expect the bulk to be out by now.

He added: 'It is amazing what a bit of sunshine can do not only to our spirits but the snowdrops as well.'

The Rococo garden, near Stroud, was rebuilt in the 1970s based on a design dating back to the 18th century.

Britain is braced for more snowfall this week as forecasters predict a return to the arctic conditions which brought chaos to the UK in January.

Up to 2inches (5cm) could settle in northern Scotland and in northern and western Wales today and tomorrow, with lighter snow showers expected in Merseyside, Shropshire and Derbyshire.

Temperatures dropped well below freezing overnight with a low of minus seven degrees Celsius recorded in Benson, Oxfordshire, bringing warnings of icy roads.

The new wave of freezing winter weather came amid figures which showed that January was the coldest for 20 years.

Snow and high seas batter the North East Coast at Whitley Bay yesterday, as fresh snowfall is forecast

A monthly review by climatologist Philip Eden showed that overall it was both drier and sunnier than an average January, but most of the sunshine came during the first and last weeks.

He said: 'Although the second half of the month was unremarkable temperature-wise, the severity of the cold period during the first half was such that January turned out to be the coldest since 1987, and the ninth coldest in the past 100 years.

'Snow fell frequently and sometimes heavily during the first fortnight, notably on the 4th/5th when depths of 25-35cm (10-14ins) were measured across a large area from the Cotswolds to the Weald.

'Accumulated depths of 40-60cm (16-24ins) were noted in upland parts of eastern Scotland and North-East England and here snow on the ground lasted throughout the month.

Temperatures dropped to minus 22.3c (minus 8f) at Altnaharra, Sutherland, overnight on January 7-8 - the lowest temperature recorded in the UK since late December 1995, Mr Eden said.

The lowest daytime maximum occurred on January 10 when the temperature failed to climb higher than minus 13.5c (8f) at Altnaharra.

A peak daytime high of 12.4c (54f) was recorded in Exeter on January 16 while the warmest night was 9.2c (49f) at St Mary's in the Isles of Scilly on January 14-15.

According to Mr Eden, the Central England Temperature of 1.1c (34f) was 3.1c (38f) below the 1971-2000 mean, the lowest since 1987.

The CET in January 1987 was 0.8c (33f). The month started off as normal, but within a week virtually the whole country was covered in snow with temperatures below zero.

Up to two inches could settle in northern Scotland and in northern and western Wales, with lighter snow showers expected in Merseyside, Shropshire and Derbyshire.

Temperatures dropped well below freezing over the weekend with a low of -7c recorded in Benson, Oxfordshire.

The Met Office warned of widespread icy roads in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, north-west and south-west England and the West Midlands.

But the chilly spell will be replaced by warmer weather as bands of rain move in from the West, forecasters said.

Heavy snow in some parts over the weekend caused disruption to motorists and forced the cancellation of several sports fixtures.

The worst-hit areas were the east and west coasts of England, northern Scotland and south-west Wales.

Drivers had to battle icy conditions and road closures as snow hit parts of the North East on Friday night.

There were five separate crashes on Bonemill Lane in Sunderland on Saturday morning and police were forced to close the road for an hour-and-a-half.

And an icy road surface led to a three-vehicle collision at a roundabout near Crowther Road in the city.

Nobody was injured in any of the incidents, police said.

Sarah Harding is back on the razzle as she lives it up in Barbados after a weekend partying in London

By Charlotte Spratt

Wayhey! Sarah Harding gets into the holiday spirit as she holds aloft two champagne glasses on the beach in Barbados today

She was always the hardest-partying member of Girls Aloud.

But recently Sarah Harding has been living a slightly quieter life as she concentrated on her boyfriend, DJ Tom Crane, and her acting career.

Now it seems she has thrown herself back into the swing of things as she holidays on Barbados.

The 28-year-old flew out for a luxurious break with her boyfriend and a select group of friends on Sunday.

Just hours before that she was spotted looking a little sleepy in the back of a after partying at a London club.

It didn't take long for her to get into the holiday spirit, drinking champagne on the beach today with Tom, playing in the sea and relaxing on sun loungers.

The singer wore an on-trend cut away swimsuit and a black sarong as she signalled to her friends to come and join her - and sip champagne.

Toned: The Girls Aloud singer's swimsuit showed she had been keeping trim since the band took a break last year

And she looked a little more lively than the day she arrived - then she had relaxed on the beach and enjoyed the late afternoon sun.

It appears that she needs the break after she fell asleep in a taxi on the way home after a night out on Saturday, and looked like she had forgotten how to party.

The singer was looking more dishevelled as she left the club than she has done for some months.

She has begun to favour the quiet life recently, preferring to put her feet up at home rather than dancing on the tables.

Relaxing: She fools around in the water with boyfriend Tom Crane

She is focusing more on her acting skills, and when while Girls Aloud took a break last year, Miss Harding played the leading role of Roxy in St Trinian's 2: The Legend Of Fritton's Gold.

She has also appeared in independent film Bad Day and the BBC drama Freefall.
But even though she had a flight to catch, the Girls Aloud singer didn't leave Kanaloa club - which she part owns - until gone 3am.

It gave her just four hours to wash, change and check in for the Caribbean holiday.
