Disciplined: Everton striker Jo (left) has been suspended by the club
Everton have suspended on-loan striker Jo for a breach of club discipline.
The Brazil international angered boss David Moyes by flying back to Brazil on a family matter without the permission of the club.
Jo will not be considered for the FA Cup third round visit of Carlisle United on Saturday and Moyes suggested the on-loan Manchester City forward could have played his last game for the club.
Moyes said: 'Jo went back to Brazil without permission from the football club. He is now back but is suspended at the present time.
'I am disappointed. We like Jo, he has been a really good lad and we have enjoyed having him.
'But there has to be discipline at all football clubs. He left over a busy period when we were short of players. I found it very difficult so he is suspended from the club.'
Asked if it was short-term measure, Moyes said: 'At the moment - it might change in the future - but at the moment it is.'
Jo's future at Goodison Park had already been in doubt because of a disappointing run of form.
It has been suggested that Moyes would not be averse to cutting short Jo's season-long loan deal and sending him back to Eastlands.
CSKA Moscow are interested in taking him back to the club where he gained a reputation as a clinical finisher.
Under fire: Jo has been performing badly on and off the pitch
His 44 goals in 77 games for the Russians caught the eye of Manchester City, who paid a then club record £19m to take him to Eastlands 18 months ago.
However, he struggled to impress for City and ran into trouble with boss Mark Hughes for indiscipline. Jo was fined for a nightclub visit in November 2008 and subsequently shipped out to Everton for the second half of last season.
Moyes renewed the link for this season, but Jo, who has been struggling with a knee injury, has scored just two goals in 24 appearances on his second spell.
Earlier this week, before Jo's ill discipline came to light, his agent Giuliano Bertolucci admitted that the player's future at Goodison Park was in doubt.
'With regard to Everton, nothing is clear,' said Bertolucci. 'We haven't spoken about extending the loan or the club buying him from Manchester City.'
CKSA desperately want to add a forward this winter and would be interested in a loan deal with a view to an £11m permanent deal.
