Forget Paris and London... Essex Fashion Week is the place to be for Only Way Is Essex stars Jessica and Lydia

By Daily Mail Reporter

Work it! The Only Way Is Essex stars Lydia Bright (left) and Jessica Wright walk down the catwalk at Essex Fashion Week at Fairlop Waters Golf Club in Ilford

Over the past two months, we've seen next season's styles on show at Fashion Weeks in Paris, Milan, London and New York.

But hoping to join the list of the world's most fashionable destinations is the Home County of Essex.

Castmembers from The Only Way Is Essex made the leap from reality stars to models today as they showcased some Spring/Summer designs on the catwalk.

Burgeoning fashionista Lydia Bright and pop star Jessica Wright both sashayed down the runway at the Fairlop Waters Golf Club in Ilford.

Bright, who dates co-star James 'Arg' Argent, modelled a string of designs for New Look, Chelce Hall swimwear and also local store Cherie's Boutique in Ongar.

Wright - the long-suffering older sister of lothario Mark Wright - didn't even know she would be modelling until a last minute phonecall this morning from the New Look PR.

Writing on her Twitter, Jessica said: 'Had most last minute random day! Sarah Jane Baynes (New Look PR) calls this morn' can I model for New Look today, did it and now had a few drinks, feeling tipsy.'

Getting ready for summer: Bright shows off her size 8 figure in denim shorts and a cropped top, while Wright looks set for the beach in her tankini

While fashions come and go, it's easy to assume fake tans, hair extensions and French manicures will always be in style in Essex.

On the catwalk today there was plenty of spray-tanned flesh on show as some of the models wore skimpy bikinis and shorts.

Bright, 20, Tweeted she was feeling nervous and steadied her nerves with a glass of wine.

She said: 'James is calming me down with a glass of Pinot before my second walk for Cherie Boutique.'

If you've got it, flaunt it: Bright shows off a bikini by her designer friend Chelce Hall

For the finale of the catwalk show, Bright wore a flamboyant clingfilm dress and Tweeted: 'Now that's what I call a finale loved being a model for the day got that passion for fashion.'

Also on the catwalk was Sugar Hat bar worker Candy Jacobs, who also appears in the TV show.

Lauren Goodger helped Essex Fashion Week CEO Adam Ryan organise the inaugural Essex Fashion Week last autumn.

Viewers of the first series of the ITV2 show famously saw her snub love rival Lucy Mecklenburgh from taking part in the catwalk show - even though her Forever Unique designs had been worn by some of the models.

Nervous: Bright sipping a glass of Pinot Grigio with her boyfriend James 'Arg' Argent backstage

Goodger further annoyed Mecklenburgh when she asked her then-ex-boyfriend Mark Wright to walk down the catwalk with her - even though they had broken up months earlier.

However, Mark went on to split from Mecklenburgh before Christmas and proposed to Goodger last week - even though they weren't even a couple at the time.

Despite being called Essex Fashion Week, it actually only lasts three days.

Other labels expected to showcase their designs includes Masato, Oooy and Sweet Boy.

Covered up catastrophe! Kim Kardashian's fashion disaster that makes her look larger than she is

By Sarah Fitzmaurice

Fashion fail: Kim Kardashian got it wrong at the QVC Red Party Style Awards but showed off her figure at her perfume launch earlier in the week

She is usually seen showing of her renowned curves in figure-hugging dress or skin-tight trousers so it was a shock to see Kim Kardashian covering up.

But while Kim, 30, is used to grabbing headlines she was getting attention for all the wrong reasons stepping out in a frumpy and unflattering outfit last night.

Arriving at the QVC Red Carpet Style Party last night she made a series of fashion faux pas, which made her enviable figure look much larger than she actually is.

The main offending item was a pair of high-waisted tapered trousers which only added inches to her legs and shortened her frame.

The unflattering pants were teamed with a cream vest and a cropped gold jacket which did nothing to complement her curves.

She finished off her look with yellow heels, large gold earrings and bright red lips.

Bright lips: Kim chose a bold red lipstick and chunky gold earrings

Shining sister: While Kim looked frumpy Kourtney got it right in the style stakes in a bronze sequined skirt and black shirt

And while Kim is usually the queen bee of the family her older sister Kourtney,31, outshined her on the red carpet showing just how to cover up correctly.

The mother-of-one was looking chic and stylish in a black shirt and sequined skirt topped off with opaque tights and laced up heels.

The girls were at the event to promote their new K-Dash collection and Kim took to Twitter to ask her followers to tune into the shopping channel to see them.

Party people: Kourtney shone on the red carpet alongside the other guests included actress Helena Bonham Carter

Trump card: Donald Trump and his wife Melania also attended the bash

Donald Trump and wife Melania and Helena Bonham Carter were also present at the pre-Oscars bash.

And it hasn’t just been Kim and Kourtney who have been out and about recently and their younger sisters have been making the most of their fame.

Kylie and Kendall Jenner, who appear in their family's reality TV show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, looked just like their famous older sisters as they walked the red carpet in Hollywood on Thursday night.

Both chose short black dresses for the Beastly premiere with Kylie 13, wearing a long sleeved laced up mini dress while Kendall, 15, opted for a velvet one-shouldered cocktail style.

All the dresses...

Feathered friends: Actress Natasha Alam and singer Manou

Do those shoes fit? Actresses Jennifer Lawrence and Katie Cassidy

Brazilian model Camila Alves and actress Rebecca Gayheart

Bright dresses, taupe shoes: Jordana Brewster and Karina Smirnoff

Skeletal models and super-sized hypocrisy: As fashion designers insist they've turned their backs on anorexic chic, do they think we're blind?

By LIZ JONES

Matchstick: Model Martyna Budna for Mark Fast shows off her worryingly thin frame, with jaunty shoulder bones and her ribs clearly visible

At a London Fashion Week where one designer, Maria Grachvogel, was forced to take in the seams on her samples because she couldn’t find any models who were a size ten, a ghost appeared on the catwalk.

It was as though I were looking in a mirror, at me aged 18, weighing 5st, about to be drip-fed on a ward in St Barts hospital.

I sat up straight on my narrow gilt chair. I looked around me to see if anyone else had seen what I had seen. But no, it was all sycophantic smiles, or that other thing fashion folk do, just the tops of expensively highlighted heads, tap, tapping away on their iPads.

I looked over at front row guest Samantha Cameron, but even she had failed to go pale. It is the drip, drip, drip effect, you see, when so many girls swim like matchsticks before your eyes, a death mask on the face of a teen becomes unremarkable.

Skin and bones: A model for Antonio Berardi's Autumn 2011 collection shows off her shockingly thin legs (left), while model Hannah Hardy's hip bones could grate parmesan', according to Liz Jones

I was at the collection for the autumn/winter shown by Erdem, the hot Brit designer of the moment. And this was the hottest model of the season: Chloe Memisevic, who was born in Sweden in 1993, and is represented by Wilhelmina Models in New York.

This is the very agency whose managing director had come along to a debate in New York a few seasons ago about the need for more realistic models, an event where Natalia Vodianova, the face of Calvin Klein, had broken down in tears when recounting how she had been told off for not losing her baby weight fast enough, and rejected by designers for being too fat.

Worrying signs: Chloe Memisevic is this season's hottest model, but she is doing her body huge damage by being so thin - including symptoms which could lead to an early death

The fashion world is going crazy for Chloe Memisevic — she was back on the catwalk yesterday for Mary Katrantzou looking horribly emaciated. As well as Erdem, she has walked the runway for Proenza Schouler and Marc Jacobs in New York, and Roksanda Ilincic and Twenty8Twelve here in London.

She is the face of Marc Jacobs. She is 5ft 11in and measures 32, 22, 34. On a Body Mass Index scale (a way of measuring body fat that proved too problematic to introduce at fashion shows, though it was mooted by Labour’s Model Health Inquiry back in 2008), she would hover somewhere below number 15.

Unimpressed: Samantha Cameron grimaces as the stick thin Swedish model Chloe Memisevic shows off a new design during the Erdem show

A healthy BMI falls somewhere between 18.5 and 24.9. This means she is at risk of brittle bone disease later in life. And heart failure. And pneumonia. And an early, horrible death.

Just to give you an idea of how far fashion has stretched its new ideal of beauty, let me tell you about the Issa show on Saturday. Yasmin Le Bon walked the runway, and while in the Eighties she was seen as very skinny and flat-chested (her photo on the cover of the first issue of Elle prompted me to have a breast reduction), on the runway in among all these emaciated 16-year-olds she looked positively elephantine.

Weighty issue: Chloe Memisevic barely filled out the floor-length gown as she walked the runway

‘Oh God, that a***!’ said the male fashion director of a glossy weekly, sat right in front of me, clutching his man bag. This sums up our second biggest industry right now, the one that makes £20 billion a year for this country, the very one Samantha Cameron was so keen to big up (my God, if only she could!) in her heartfelt speech to launch the proceedings.

Disenchanted by what I had seen at Erdem, I turned up at the Mark Fast show on Monday night, in the hope of a breath of normality.

Burning bright: Flame-haired Nicola Roberts dresses like a pearly queen as she ups the fashion stakes at Mulberry

By Natalie Wain

Pearly queen: Nicola Roberts channels London's pearly king and queen tradition as she attends the Mulberry show at London Fashion week today

She's been turning heads all weekend at London Fashion Week with her bang on-trend sense of style, but Nicola Roberts outshone the competition at the Mulberry fashion show today, quite literally.

The fashionable Girls Aloud singer arrived at London's Claridge's Hotel wearing a very distinctive pearly queen-style coat emblazoned with hundreds of shiny buttons.

No wonder the pale-skinned beauty needed her enormous bug-eyed sunglasses to protect her delicate complexion from the glare!

The 25-year-old singer lit up the otherwise grey afternoon and looked a picture of elegance with her three-quarter length sleeves and ribbon belt nipping her in at the waist.

She completed her fashion-forward ensemble with bare legs, simple black pumps and an elegant black clutch bag with her perfectly teased red hair flowing around her shoulders.

The Mulberry show was the hottest ticket in town today and the quintessentially English fashion house attracted a bevy of stars to see their Autumn/Winter 2011 collection.

Where's the sun? Nicola Roberts wasn't taking any chances of catching any sunlight today as she attended the Mulberry show at Claridge's Hotel. The pale beauty's bug eyed sunglasses ensured she was in the shade

Giving Nicola a run for her money was New York fashionista and style-rival Olivia Palermo who arrived all smiles wearing a pleated pink mini skirt teamed with a stone-coloured blazer which she topped with a shearling duffel coat thrown casually over her shoulders.

The reality TV star of The City, who is a regular on the fashion circuit, did not forget to pay homage to her hosts either, carrying an over-sized Mulberry satchel to finish off her look.

Brit presenter Fearne Cotton was engrossed on her telephone as she arrived at the show wearing a slightly dowdy-looking ankle-length dress that was saved by her edgy biker boots and boyfriend-style blazer.

Also attending the show was quirky singer Marina from Marina and The Diamonds who looked delighted with her colour-popping blue cropped leather jacket.

Her otherwise casual looked was given a boost by her bright tomato-coloured painted nails and distinctive round turquoise sunglasses.

On what was a drizzly and grey day in London, she certainly wasn't hiding from the sun, so perhaps she had already spotted Nicola's pearly coat gleaming in the distance.

Ready for their close-up: Marina from Marina and The Diamonds (left) lifted her casual look with a quirky pair of turquoise sunglasses while Dr Who star Karen Gillan worked the office-chic look to a tee

But Nicola Roberts wasn't the only flame-haired beauty to attend the show. New girl on the block and Dr Who star Karen Gillan arrived at the show looking like she was heading to the office.

The actress looked elegant in her cream knee-length shirt dress, which she topped-off with a simple brown blazer.

With five more days of London Fashion Week to go, the fashion swords have certainly been drawn. Let battle commence!

Who said Essex girls weren't bubbly? The Only Way Is Essex stars Jessica, Lucy and Lauren go girlie in new fashion shoot

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Bubbly Essex girls: The Only Way Is Essex stars (L-R) Jessica Wright, Lauren Lindsay and Lucy Mecklenburgh model the 'Abigail' prom dresses from the Forever Unique Spring/Summer 2011 collection

Just a few months ago, the names Jessica Wright, Lucy Mecklenburgh and Lauren Lindsay were barely known outside their native Essex.

But after the runaway success of The Only Way Is Essex, the reality stars have landed a high-profile new role - as the faces of fashion label Forever Unique's new Spring/Summer collection.

Wright, 25, and her Lola bandmate Lauren Lindsay, 20, have teamed up with co-star Mecklenburgh, 19, to show off the girlie prom dresses from the new range.

In a fun and feminine shoot, the pretty trio frolic with flowers, bubbles and cupcakes as they get into the mood for Spring.

While Mecklenburgh's romance with Jessica's brother Mark didn't last long, it appears the two women have struck up a good friendship.

Despite being parting ways with manager Julian Bennett last month after their debut single Claustrophobic peaked at 59 in the iTunes charts, Jessica and Lauren's pop group Lola are back in the studio recording and have a new manager.

In the Christmas special of the show, they revealed they had chosen Megan McKenna to replace Linzi Peel after she quit the girl group.

On Tuesday, Wright attended the Brit Awards with younger brother Mark and his latest female companion, American model Kayla Collins.

Meanwhile, Jessica and Mark's grandmother Nanny Pat - who also appears in the reality show - is rumoured to be starring alongside Barbara Windsor in a new advert for Jackpot Joy.

Jessica, Lauren and Lucy will all be returning to Series 2 of The Only Way Is Essex, which is set to screen on ITV2 on March 23.
