Stars raising hundreds and thousands for Children In Need: Gail Porter and Zoe Salmon dress up for charity

Who'd have thought that hundreds and thousands could be so much fun?

They normally adorn the top of ice cream cones or cupcakes but Tana Ramsay and Gail Porter found a novel way of using the decorations as make-up - all in the name of charity.

Author Tana, 36, and presenter Gail, 39, joined forces to promote this year's Children In Need charity appeal and used this year's Get Baking theme to have some fun and raise awareness of the BBC appeal at the same time.

Former glamour model Gail stuck the cake decoration across her eyes, giving a dramatic frame to her big green peepers, and on to her fingernails.

She also modelled one of this year's Pudsey Bear T-shirts, which are part of an exclusive range for Asda who are selling the designs for this year's appeal.

Gail said: 'Doing this photoshoot has been so much fun. Who knew that hundreds and thousands could be made to look so good!

'Through buying a Pudsey T-shirt from Asda, you will be helping children and young people across the UK who may have experienced mental, physical or sensory disabilities; behavioural or psychological disorders; are living in poverty or situations of deprivation; or suffering through distress, abuse or neglect.'

Tana, wife of celebrity TV chef Gordon, 43,also decorated her eyes with the sprinkles, and gave her look a little something extra as she applied a temporary Pudsey Bear tattoo to her arm.

She said: 'I wouldn’t be where I was today if it weren’t for the constant support, love and care from my family. I can’t imagine the pain of a child who hasn’t been as lucky with their parents, which is why I’m supporting this year’s BBC Children in Need Appeal.’

The two ladies were joined by other celebrities to model and promote this year's official Children In Need T-shirts and merchandise.

Actresses Terri Dwyer and Samia Smith showed off their slender figures in one of the exclusive dresses and t-shirts, with Samia, 28, even adding some chocolate hand prints to her white dress in keeping with the Get Baking theme.

The Coronation Street star said: 'I’ve had an extremely fun day today doing this baking shoot! I’d encourage everyone to get themselves a bake-a-bear cookie cutter and get baking, all in the spirit of raising money for BBC Children in Need.’

Former Hollyoaks star Terri, 37, who modelled the £6 sketchy Pudsey grey T-shirt, added: 'No one should have to suffer poverty and deprivation in this day and age and with the support of the public, BBC Children in Need will be able to take another step towards helping those who are suffering.

'I think everyone should do something a little different this year to support the cause! The wackier, the better!'

Northern Irish TV presenter Zoe Salmon, 30, also took part in the shoot, and modelled the £6 red Waving Pudsey T-shirt.

As she posed with Pudsey and his new friend Blush, she said: ‘Wear your Pudsey T-shirt with pride! T-shirts are available for the whole family – even the little ones - so you can all unite and show your support for this worthy cause.’

And it wasn't just the girls getting involved in the cause, as they were joined by theatre actor Lee Mead, 29.

The West End star, who is married to presenter Denise Van Outen, posed in two £6 T-shirts and embraced the Get Baking theme as he posed in front of a cloud of flour.

He said: 'I’ll never look at flour the same way again – but it’s all been worth it. An hour of getting a bit messy and sticky is a small price to pay to know that we’re helping make children’s lives better.’

This year's BBC Children In Need appeal takes place on November 19 and the official merchandise is on sale at Asda stores across the UK.
