But Christina Hendricks has made several dressed-down appearances lately, perhaps in an effort to downplay the attention on her figure, which she said recently was 'awesome' but only a positive 'sidebar' to being a good actress.
Yesterday she took it a step further, and was spotted outside her home in Hollywood shoeless with dirty feet.
The actress, who plays sexy receptionist Joan on the cult series about a 1960s advertising agency, looked rather dowdy as she walked to her car with her heels in hand.
The 35-year-old was otherwise well-groomed, with fresh make-up, blow dried hair and retro thick-framed glasses.
Her figure-hugging dress, with a slit in the back, would have been worthy of one of her famous character's office ensembles, had she managed to slip on the six-inch heels.
But the actress didn't bother squeezing into the uncomfortable shoes for the short trip to her waiting car.

Christina has said she thinks it is 'awesome' that she has inspired women to embrace their curves and become more body confident, but insists she also wants to be recognised for her acting as well.
'When the attention started to be about my figure, I was surprised, because it wasn't something I was focused on,' she said recently.

The actress revealed how she and her husband Geoffrey Arend were at dinner when they were approached by another woman.

'I got teary eyed,' the actress recalled.
'I remember Geoffrey saying, "That's what you're doing for people. That's amazing." And I said, "I'm just trying to be a good actress and trying to tell a story, but if this is the sidebar, all this positivity, then that is awesome."'
