Bend It Like Bieber: Justin puts his football skills to the test in Spain

Sport prowess: Justin Bieber takes to the football pitch for a game in Spain today

Justin Bieber proved himself to be something of a natural left-foot today as he took to the football pitch.

The teen singer was spotted working up a sweat in a Barcelona FC kit on the outskirts of Madrid in Spain.

After tearing up the AstroTurf for a while the 17-year-old star managed to score a goal as he competed against some local teens

And in true sporting tradition, Justin lifted up his top and bared his chest to celebrate his victory.

Canadian-born Bieber may be more used to soccer back home.

But if he wanted to scrub up on his football knowledge, he could no doubt confide in David Beckham, who is a former Real Madrid player.

In a recent interview Beckham actually name dropped Bieber, saying that his young Romeo asked if they could call their new sibling Justin Bieber.

Beckham, whose wife Victoria is pregnant with their fourth child, was speaking to American chat show host Jimmy Kimmel when he shared the funny story.

He added that when they told Romeo that he was going to have a sister, and not another a brother, the seven-year-old then asked if they could call her Justine Bieber instead.

Bieber has two dates in Spain this week as part of his tour.

Meanwhile his girlfriend Selena Gomez has said that she has no plans to duet with him.

The 18-year-old insisted that she would rather keep her personal life and career separate.

Asked if she had considered teaming up with her beau, she told E!: 'I don't know.

You know, with my friends, I always make sure that I try to keep like family and business separate because it doesn't really go well sometimes... I don't know about that. We'll see.'

Gomez added that she hopes to take her career in a different direction when she gets older.

'Ultimately I'd like to slow everything down and just do acting for when I'm older,' she explained.

'But right now I have a passion for music. I'm young and I love travelling and I'm kind of embracing all that.'
